Per my last post, I think what I realized is that I let a boy start to pull me away from my independence. That's not acceptable. I woke up this morning and re-claimed it, and already feel better :)

[No, it doesn't mean I broke up with him!]

I'm in a funk... is it bad I'm dating this guy for four months and lately, I kind of miss being single?

He's been annoying the shit out of me lately, and I don't know if it's because I feel like he's not pulling his weight of wanting to see each other like he used to, or I just need to forget he's there and see what he does to get my attention again?

REBOOT???

Nevermind doing a reboot of "Buffy" without Mr. Whedon - why the HELL would you want to do a reboot of a failed movie and a popular, successful TV Series that ended less than 10 years ago?

COME ON, people... The TV series is too fresh in people's minds to take a reboot seriously. "Batman" at least rebooted itself 20 years after the first movie came out. "Star Trek" at least 30 years same as "Superman"... let the Buffy memory fade a little more.

So I've joined Twitter.. I'm officially a lemming :) but I need more friends so if anyone is on Twitter, look me up!

"Dollhouse" last night seemed better than from last week but it was a little noisy so I think I missed why the guy was trying to hunt her down. She still kicked ass, though, and if anything, it was worth seeing that! Plus, there was a little deeper character peek into the leader of the Dollhouse and his relationship to Echo.

So I know I'm probably shooting myself in the foot for being so excited, but I totally am looking forward to "Dollhouse"'s premiere tonight! As I'm writing, I completely forgot to watch the talk shows for Eliza, too.

The power of youtube, though.

I want it to be good, I want it to be successful. But sometimes setting roughly high standards can be suicide. As long as it has the same genius and wit and action as the first three seasons of "Buffy," I'll be happy. I havet seen too many scenes from it so I am watching this with fairly fresh eyes.

Eliza is back on TV, smoking hot as ever, so really, there is no wrong today, at least. How it carried itself and how FOX handles a Friday night will be a different story.

Hell, I'm still hoping for a "Faith" series ;)

It's so funny how my friends in RL are creating blogs/journals like it's a brand new thing! :) They don't know about this journal, however. Not sure why I never linked them here. Maybe 'cause it's like I want it all to myself including the few of you who still read it?

But it's like a thing with my friends now and here I'm thinking I've had a "blog" for about 8 years now!
So I just read in the trades that a bunch of well known stores are closing a few locations. The likes of Ann Taylor, the Gap (???!), and Sprint/Nextel are just a few of the victims.

What cracked me up was that Forbes, who ran the article, was listing how many stores they were closing across the country. So for like the Gap it's like 60 stores which make up maybe 7% of the total.

Starbucks is closing SIX HUNDRED stores! What cracks me up was that is made up only 6% of their locations!! Talk about oversaturation. They did it to themselves in ways.

I totally bit it last night. I was running across my condo, playing with my pup, when my foot caught in my sister's yoga mat (that she doesn't use, mind you) and I all but flew, hit the doorframe of my sister's room, and landed on the ground. Midroi was just hopping around, licking my face as I laid there in pain.

I offically have a bruise across my upper left arm. I can't take a fall like I used to!

"Lost" is the topic of the day. As usual, last night blew my mind and my brain is officially in shambles. But in a good way! This is what the show does - if it didn't confuse, I'd be worried :)

It answered quite a few questions and I think a lot more answers are out there but piecing it together is the hard part.

No spoilers here but three words: Hurley, Ben, hot pocket. (Okay, technically four...)

This really is a cool, historic day today. DC has never looked so... Active? ;) I'm definitely watching our 44th President being sworn in - good thing every manager in our company has a television in their office :)

Do I think Mr. Obama will solve all out country's current problems? I'm not ignorant - of course not.

But it is a sense of change and I think it's a feeling this country needs right now. I hope Mr. Obama can get the gears of change going in his first four years, at least. It's the only thing I expect from him at the moment.

In a completely different subject, what the hell are the broadcasters doing by bringing late-night to not-so-late-night?? NBC is doing it with Jay and now ABC is thinking about it? Has broadcast lost that much hope in their programming??

I say bring back the variety show! :)

So I had MLK Jr Day off today, and bumming around is so much fun and unproductive. I did go out with lunch with a friend and then did errands but for the most part, it was lazy day. However, I did enjoy a great "Powerpuff Girls" marathon. I do love that cartoon - and it reminded me why. Apparently, it's their 10th anniversary... tenth?? Wow... they had a new episode for which I'm DVR'ing. I'll check it out later. It's time to watch television shows that don't have three colorful girls with rather LARGE eyes... :) Blossom is my favorite.

Man, work tomorrow... these days off kill me...

But... season premiere of "Lost" is in two days - what?what? :D I'm very excited about that!! In fact, I'm going to my friend's house to watch it with her and her family :)

I put my membership on hold when I got the pup, but it has been taken off and now I should take full advantage. Which I did on Friday morning and Saturday morning, and MAN was I feeling it THIS morning!

Ugh, being off for almost a week and a half can really put a toll on one's ability to be productive.
I'm currently watching "Swingers" which has got to be one of my top ten movies of all time. I don't know what's so appealing about it. It's obviously more of a "guy" movie, but I just love the cast and it's just a classic. I so would date Jon Favreau

So 2008 has been gone for two days and here's some highlights that I can remember from the year:

* The concerts I attended last year were all 80's groups/singers - Poison (though I ended up not going), the Regeneration Tour (Belinda Carlise, Human League, ABC), Janet Jackson, and finally, probably one of the greatest concert experiences EVAR, The New Kids on the Block!! This year so far, I'm on par with the year... Britney Spears in March.

* I only attended one wedding in 2008 and for once, I wasn't a part of it :)

* The trip to Las Vegas for President's Club. One of the best experiences of my life in so many levels.

* I believe the laptop I'm using right now was purchased in 2008 and it has been a joy to have (though now I'm wanting a desktop just 'cause)

* Two of my dear friends had their second child this year, right around each other in June and July. Another friend had her second one in December.

* Gas kicked my ass this year, which isn't a highlight but it was memorable. I was paying nearly $80 to fill up my almost empty tank. Now, it costs me less than $30

* The recession did stop me from trying to seriously take a trip to Europe; however, it did make me rethink where I wanted to spend my stimulus check as well what would be a life-changing event. And viola! The new addition to my family was born... Midori :) She has given me a new love of life and dogs in general. I even just signed up to volunteer at the local shelters.

2009 will be an interesting year, hopefully in a good way. I look forward to seeing what it brings...

Obsession Revisited

So last night, I was on the verge of going into a Nyquil induced coma for the night. I had DVR'd a few Biography episodes and I guess they were having a television themed few days where they focus on the cast of tv shows. I saw one for "Friends" and of course there was one for "Buffy."

Last night, I was inspired to watch the "Buffy" one and man, did it make me realize how much I love that show and WHY I love it so! All this "Twilight" crap can try to compete with it, but seriously, there was nothing (and maybe still not!) like it out there.

Yes, I still RP in this 'verse, but honestly it has probably been a year since I've seen an epiosde and this made me realize how long it has been!

I'm trying to remember if I've seen it before. I'm sure I have it on VHS - now if I only had a VCR to play those specials I've recorded.

I need to get a combo DVD/VCR for the living room.

Oh! And Santa said he was getting me a Wii this year! Whoo!!!

It's a little before six thirty as I write this. I'm already standing at my respective polling place, waiting to share my voice. Lemme just tell you how utterly cool having a Blackberry is right now.

I guess it's a good thing that this election has gotten so much attention. However it ends, the outcome will make history and that's wow-worthy.
I'm not sure why I thought that leaving my jacket in the car was a GOOD idea. I'm an idiot sometimes! It's not frosty cold but it's cold! However, I don't wanna leave my place in line. Not that I think they'll overtake my spot...well, they might :)

Good luck to those who are voting today!

Thirty-two...

It's my birthday... oh, yeah :D

It's probably the most relaxing birthday EVAR. Although, last night was pretty fun. I went to the Janet Jackson concert with some co-workers, for free. She always puts on a good show but with the bad press she's had lately, I think it made a lot of us forget she is Ms. Jackson. It was a great show, although I enjoyed her other show she had a few years ago the best, maybe even ever. I kind of wished I danced more but I was trying to be "professional" for the clients there.

Before then, I was at a 2-yr-old's party that Midori was also invited to. Man, did Midori enjoy that fenced in backyard and all the young'uns running around, tiring her out!

I did a lot of cleaning and organization on Saturday while Midori was at the groomers so it was a productive b-day weekend. And today, I took the day off and just chilled through most of the day. I was totally going to get a pedicure and completely forget, so into being lazy I was :)

However, around 4pm, strangely enough, my manager calls me on my cell phone. He NEVER calls me. He totally SCARED me when he told me there was a big meeting today at work about lay offs... thankfully, our dept was affected but DAMN, it's scary to know it still can happen. Usually Marketing and Research are the first to go in most companies. :whew:: And to think, I was just talking about how burned out at work I was; this will definitely renew my need to work.

Broken and Aligned...

Dude - I'm so broken.

So a few weeks ago, one of my co-workers won this free massage for the whole company. It wasn't from a spa, though. It was from one of those holistic places that has a group of different types of doctors that believe that when one thing is out of line, it affects a lot of other pieces of your body. It all makes sense, I swear. I got back the x-rays they took last week and I'm all broken!

Okay, not really. But my neck has no curvature like it should. It's perfectly straight, which isn't a good thing 'cause it causes strain on other parts, namely my neck and shoulders. Then my spinal bones are rotated slightly in various places. It was just bizarre but explains a few things. Maybe sitting on my bed on my laptop could also contribute to it.

Needless to say, I'm supposedly in need of some therapy for the next three months. While I welcome it (although the neck and back adjustments were so hard to hear since it was my first time to let a chiropractor touch me!), it's gonna be a doozy of $$$.

What a year to get a puppy!

Although, many things with Midori are starting to even out, including expenses. Of course, she will be getting spayed next month as well as getting microchipped.

"Chuck" about had me in tears by the end. I'm such a sucker for that sort of relationship and heartbreak. Ah, romantic torture... gotta love it. Still... AHHHHHH!! The caged match was awesome, though. Morgan so reminds me of Seth Green.... they could be bros.

"Fringe" has been an interesting (and quite graphic) show. I'm intrigued. I was never an X-Files fan, but I know it has the same feel of it. I like it, but I'm sure it probably won't make it too much longer by FOX's reputation and the ratings.

I HEART CHUCK!!

I just adore this television show, like MAJORLY. There's so much layers to that show, and it's pretty much things that I love about a television show: Action, humor, kick ass chicks, and a cute, goofy dude :D Plus, Sarah vs. Large Black Man (aka Michael Clarke Duncan) was AWESOME. Plus the face she kicked his ass twice over! And this whole Chuck/Sarah thing just gives me the frustrated warm fuzzies :D

I'm watching "Fringe" and I'm not sure how I like it yet. It's interesting but ... maybe I just have to pay attention more.

::Sob:: Oh, UGA, what happened to you on Saturday?? Oi vey!

Yeah, so on Saturday, it was the big Black Out game of the year between the Dawgs and Alabama. My cousin and I voted to go to a nice wine bar yesterday but her hubby, who is a HUGE sports fan, got all caught up with college football. (Men!) And he wanted to join us so we had to go from a nice, quiet wine bar to a loud, noisy sports bar. Which was fine - IF YOUR TEAM WASN'T SHAMING YOU! I just wanted chicken wings, dammit!

Anyway, today was a nice relaxing day. I took the pup out to the largest park in Atlanta, Piedmont Park. I've always wanted to go there with a dog and voila! My dream had come true. Midori was a little overwhelmed at first with the people on bikes, roller blades, and other dogs and she got hot and tired pretty easily. I think we spent time chillin' under the shade more than actual walking. Then Holly came to meet us at the Park Tavern which is a big hit with dogs and owners and we had a nice lunch and some drinks. It was a really nice day and I think Midori ended up enjoying herself and exposing herself to the crowds and bustle.

She's been passed out ever since, though! :)

Here's the latest pic of my pup being all lazy yet cute ;)

What has the World Come to?

This morning has already been a crazy day. I took Midori out for a walk and decided that soon after, I would try and get gas. I only had a little over 1/4th left, which may sound like a lot but 1.) I drive a full-sized SUV and 2.) I live in Atlanta. So I decided to try the local Kroger (grocery store) since it's sat back in this shopping center - nope. The line was freakin' LONG. The nearest BP had lines coming out both openings.

So I decided to head to PetSmart to check out the PetsHotel. Midori will have to be left somewhere during the day on Tuesday, most likely. I just want to see what my options will be in case it does come down to it. I got her a ID tag, too - she's official! :) After picking up some Chick-Fil-A, I decided to try another gas station. It was another BP and there was a line, but I decided I had to commit. The price was ridicuous $.4.29 for REGULAR unleaded! But I had to get it. Then the women ahead of me and behind began to use me as a communicator since one was getting angry at the other. It was going to be a brawl, and Midori and I in the middle of it. Oh, and on top of that, Midori had either gotten car sick or had eaten something on her walk that made her throw up.

Oi!

Needless to say, I got out of there in one piece and got hom to eat my damn chicken biscuit! :) It was already a long tday.
